Where is nightbane

I used every man on first fear, divine prot on second, and ate the third. Average 3 fears per ground phase for me. Air phase is the time to regen mana, skellies are easy and can give you a full mana bar from sanct before you kill them.

Dispel yourself when you get distracting ash, and dispel the dot off yourself once he's coming back down. Rinse and repeat and he's dead. Pretty boring fight, took me about 17 minutes. Comment by If you are gonna solo this: use the inner wall to LoS his breath, you got less than a second to react to it and run, but it is possible with some practice. The rest should be easy if you can handle his melee damage.

Edit: if you run out of Charred Earth immediately you will not suffer a single tick of the damage. Comment by Ssateneth I completed the quest to summon nightbane before they made the urn grey quality I remember vendoring the urn after it turned grey quality but I cannot summon him still. Is it because I never got the key to kara? I need to do BM for the key still. Comment by mattroszel Soloable by a feral druid, hardest part was the smoldering breath debuff which I saved my barksin for.

Comment by pequals i have the urn still but how do you summon him now that its useless, hes still the coolest looking boss and funnest, well for me cause i pulled him so many times in BC. Comment by The only boss I can think of from BC onward with dialogue that has no voice-over. You pretty much have to be willing eat CDs like candy, probably 1 per ground phase. Edit: Just downed him as Prot, turns out using each ridge of the center wall you can LOS not only his breath, but his fear as well.

You can fight him along a flat area of the inner wall, stand near where the wall juts out slightly, and as soon as you see a cast bar, run around the wall. Since it's a semi-circle you can just keep moving along in one direction each cast of fear, breath, or charred earth, and when you get to the end just turn around and go back the other way, skipping any charred earths that haven't gone away.

Comment by PilsnerDk Beware of pulling him to far away from the urn. Had to start all over again, and that time, I stayed in the area around the urn. Comment by ShamanofAlleria I didn't see anything about Nightbane being soloable, but i just thought i would drop one that says he is I did on my tankadin and used fire resist which seemed to help a lot, i did take a lot of melee dmg though, but i'm guessing since paladins don't really have a lot of magic resist talents i assumed fire resist is probably better than 2k extra armor Other than that, just make sure you keep judgement of light up and you should be able to use seal of vengeance, switching to seal of light whenever adds pop for extra health.

Comment by Kaemalux Prot pally 45k unbuffed - 20 mins to solo him. Will be boring Supposedly the locked door can somehow be opened after beating the Opera event.

So, tried going to this door opposite the balcony that leads to Opera, having just 2 manned the Wizard of Oz event today. Door still locked. I'm surprised after reading the comments here that no one has mentioned it. Also that no item "Servant's Access Key" is in Wowhead database. We sorta wanted to Jenkins the quest and go but now the quest is still on our log.

Comment by violentravi I just skimmed through these comments and didn't find anything that answered peoples' questions about summoning him. My boyfriend and I did this last night so he could get rep, we had 5 people in our group. No one could find anything to click to start the Nightbane event. I logged over to my lock, that is attuned to Karazahn and who had the Urn that was used to summon Nightbane years ago. I instantly saw the Black Urn on the ground and was able to click it. So, to answer any questions, you don't necessarily need to have a key to open Kara I'm not sure if it's still available to be picked up.

Comment by Nobbel gold, rare mount, fun fights, done in about 1 or 2 hours depending on how long the chess event takes.

Comment by error10 Soloed Nightbane as a level 85 frost mage avg ilvl The key here is to extend the air phases as much as possible and attack him from range. When the adds came back I just rooted them again.

Rinse and repeat, and he will remain in the air for nearly the entire fight. Note that Nightbane won't die during the air phase; he'll just go to 1 health and you'll have to finish him off when he lands. Took a bit under 3 minutes. Comment by Be aware that if you have a DoT up on him or are casting while he is in air phase, he can and will die and land where he is not able to be looted. Comment by August I just solo'd Kara. After you are done with the quest chain. I just did it so it is still possible to summon him.

I'm curious, if after i turn in the quest will i still be able to summon nightbane, i don't know yet, i'm standing at Archmage Alturus atm about to finish the quest. Comment by forgottenring Since there seems to be a little confusion on how exactly you can summon Nightbane post-shattering, here's what you have to do.

All bunched up in one post. The only thing that changed was during Wrath, Blizzard took out the requirement of carrying and using the Blackened Urn in your inventory, which players got after completing all the quests. Instead the urn is always there on the Master's Terrace. A player must have completed this quest line below before it will be clickable for them. This change is what probably caused the most confusion for some players. Doing the Karazhan key quest chain, starting with Arcane Disturbances and Restless Activity , is a good place to start.

You do not get a key from these quests anymore nor do you need one to get in. You still have to kill lots of trash to get to honored. Probably will take at least two lockouts to get the rep needed. Once you are honored, Archmage Alturus will give you the quest Medivh's Journal. This has you go back into Karazhan to talk to Wravien.

He and his colleagues are all in the library right after The Curator. He will send you to talk to Gradav. Gradav will then send you to Kamsis. If you are soloing Kara this will not be much of a problem. Just watch out for the magic immune Mana Feeder mobs if you're a caster.

Whacking away at these guys for minutes at a time is no fun. She gives the quest The Shade of Aran to get the journal from who else? Shade of Aran. After all this is where you get started on the actual Nightbane part of the quest chain. Kamsis will send you to The Master's Terrace. Use Medivh's Journal at the southern to mid part of the terrace close to the urn on the ground. Then watch the lore all the way through to complete.

Go back outside of Karazhan to Archmage Alturus and turn in. Use the side entrance door nearby for a short cut. If it says locked don't worry it's not click on it and it'll open anyway. It's not hard to get as the bone is right behind the Karazhan summon stone. However, you can't loot it while in a raid group. Either convert the raid group to party if raid is players from the right-click menu on your player frame have to be group lead or drop raid group.

If you are soloing, there will not be a problem. Turn in the quest, then get your traveling gear on and tune up that flying mount for the last parts.

Yeah wayyyy up there. She will want you to get a couple of books for her. All the way back down there!

Thankfully, you won't have to run either completely to get them. Use the potion right at the start of the Halls of the Fathers gauntlet in Shattered Halls to skip this annoying part. After all that is finished, return to Kalynna in Area She will do her thing and send you back to Karazhan. Do we get frequent flyer miles for this quest chain? Now all you have to do is go back inside Kara to the Master's Terrace and kill Nightbane. Once there, you will be able to click that urn on the ground you saw earlier.

Anyway, click the urn and Nightbane will engage you. He is not, for the most part, a very difficult boss to solo. Stay out of his charred earth on the ground and kill the packs of skeletons when he goes up in the air.

And that might be a problem, because it is possible for Nightbane to die somewhere he is not lootable or bug out if he is killed too quickly. At this point, Nightbane will be doing his rain of bones two times in a row. Kill the skeletons each time and he will then fly around and eventually land again. Now it'll be safe to put him out of his misery and loot the Faint Arcane Essence.

Finally, go outside and complete at Alturus. You're done! The urn will now be clickable whenever you run Karazhan. You can summon Nightbane anytime you want!

Once he hits that level of health, let him land or face the risk of him dying in an inaccessible spot. Comment by glycereth If you had previously done the quest during BC, feel free to vendor the Urn as you can now just click the urn on the floor to summon him.

Comment by tired What's up with the doors? Then we noticed the doors for the first time, and they were closed. So either clicking the urn the second time locks them, or killing him fast keeps you locked on the terrace for Edit - Confirmed: As long as both people are able to click it the first time they've both completed the chain of quests , a second click will re-lock the doors.

It will lock you back in after you have killed the boss if you click it again. You will have to hearth out. Edit - Why is this getting downvoted? You will lock yourself in if someone other than the original person who clicked the urn clicks the urn again after the boss is down. The doors will lock and you have to hearth out. Comment by mummer I haven't been able to find the urn. Anyone can tell me the location of the so called "urn on the ground"?

Comment by dexterhall Make sure you try different angles with the mouse. I was hovering from a distance and only when I came close and after a few tries, was I able to get the cog wheel. Comment by Liri A nice GM named Khyterion gave me some tips on the missing mousewheel bug and how to work around it. So everyone out for a few minutes to 15 minutes. This worked for me. Log in and see if the wheel works. Have fun stormin' the castle! Comment by I've done all the quests after being honored, I'm actually revered right now, but I still can't click that stupid URN I'm beginning to hate this boss haha Charred Earth targets a random player in the raid, placing a smoking fiery section of ground beneath that player.

While standing on top of Charred Earth, players will take fire damage over time. Quickly move out of the Charred Earth to avoid this damage.

Charred Earth lasts about 30 seconds before fading. Cleave is the typical Dragon ability, dealing damage in a cone in front of the boss.

To avoid this damage, the tank should face the boss sideways, allowing for damage dealers to attack into its side. Tail Sweep is the typical Dragon ability, dealing damage in a cone behind the boss and knocking players back. Distracting Ash reduces melee hit chance and spell hit chance. This should be Dispelled and Cleansed quickly by healers.

Rain of Bones is a long cast, where Nightbane will target a random player and starts raining the area with bone fragments, dealing physical damage to all players nearby. Additionally, five Restless Skeleton will spawn, and the entire raid needs to focus fire them. Smoking Blast is Nightbane's second ability while in Aerial Phase. Smoking Blast will target the player highest on threat during the Aerial phase and deal physical damage and apply a magical debuff, dealing fire damage over time.

The debuff should be dispelled or cleansed immediately. Fireball Barrage is Nightbane's third ability and will only trigger if someone in the Raid is far out of range from the boss. Please enable JavaScript in your browser. Live PTR. Classic TBC. Quick Facts. Comments Comment by Thiiamas Thanks for the guide! The question is: can we reset the dungeon if we fail the timer to try untill we succeed?

Comment by Nethris The timer for the "speedrun" is not too difficult if you know the way and have good aoe dps. The Nightbane bossfight itself is much more difficult.

P2 ends when big skeleton dies. P3: -Same as P1, except everyone has debuffs from P2. You can pull Nightbane to the opposite end you started in P1 to have more space from the aoe ground zones. Comment by NomadDC Few things to look out for: - Boss spawns fire puddles, they stay for quite a while - place them carefully. They tend to go on ranged. Probably don't want to dispell it.

I would suggest popping hero after first roar to burn down the boss. Good luck! Comment by Adamovix He looks like anorectic Deathwing. I won't tag a new release until after blizzcon so only alphas have nightbane for now. When I get back and tag a new release I'll update this comment to reflect that. EDIT No reason to use alpha, it's in a release version. Comment by Leviatharan Turns out the only bosses you really need to kill for this guy are Opera, Moroes and Curator.

Kill Opera, clear the way to Maiden then turn back, kill Moroes and steal his keys, skip Attumen, head for the Servant Quarters portal to get back to the entrance, run up and kill Curator, then drop down the Broken Stair at every chance for a shortcut. Fragments will apply Medivh's Echo to all party members within a limited radius when someone interacts with it, and will add 5 minutes to the remaining duration of all nearby instances of Echo meaning, they do NOT reset the count to 5 minutes, and are designed to afford you as much time as possible, so you do NOT need to have one guy stay behind at each new crystal and only click when his buff is about to fall off; our tank nearly recommended that.

Don't be fooled if the dungeon's "internal timer" lets you continue to use the crystals: even if you can pick up the Menagerie crystal, you only get Medivh's Presence for having 5 stacks on one person, and you can only talk to Medivh with Presence.

Our strategy was to get the biggest trash packs possible and AE them down, while taking care to limit the number of unnecessary pulls. For the Banshees, try not to have more than 2 at once; the Terrify needs to be interrupted over anything else.

Not really a mobility-intensive fight, nor is his HP particularly high. Two melee alternate interrupting Reverberating Shadows , with a third interrupt on standby just in case though it was only necessary due to one of the interruptors screwing up the order; a coordinated group will find 2 alternating interrupts sufficient.

Told the healer not to bother dispelling Burning Bones ; apparently it was surprisingly easy to heal through. Failure on this mechanic was the only thing that kept us from killing the boss first try. He flies into the air and summons adds. Save damage CDs for phase 2 and burst down the big add Bonecurse as quick as possible before Jagged Shards gets too high for your healer; the shards debuff lasts until the end of the fight, like Garrote. We ended up with 6 stacks on our successful pull, though the healer pointed out that that was a bit high.

We just cleaved down the other phase 2 adds. Phase 3 is the same as phase 1, but Nightbane occasionally casts Bellowing Roar , which slows the group and can fear players into the flames - apparently DKs can AMS the roar if other classes have anti-fear stuff, that probably works , although he casts it slightly too often ish sec? Luckily we never had an issue with him fearing us long enough to prevent interrupts.

Mount was personal loot, only 1 person got it per group for each run in our guild. Comment by kellyislame In case anyone is wondering you cannot return to kill Nightbane at a later time once he is summoned. My group successfully completed a speed run this evening. When we all were able to log in almost an hour later, we zoned into Karazhan and discovered he was indeed gone.

We had to find someone with a fresh Karazhan ID and complete the speed run again for a chance at loot. Comment by rachiepoo Just succesfully killed him last night. The speed run to get to him wasn't nearly as hard as the boss itself. The rest of the group was just excited to kill him and didn't give me any explanation as far as healing went. They told me not to dispel during phase 2 and did that when I could, but let me tell you healers, this is not an easy fight by any means.

Perhaps other healing classes will do better in this fight, but as a holy priest it was really intense. I'm sure there must have been missed interrupts or other such things that went wrong because even pulling k HPS we just barely got it. I guess the gist of my comment is if you are a healer healing this for the first time, be prepared to heal your ass off. You easily have the hardest role in this fight.
